Biography
Roebin de Freitas, part of a young and vibrant belgian electronic music scene, has followed a prosperous path in his young career. Roebin has been picked up by major players within the local scene like Kozzmozz, the famous Fuse club and a string of dates at the Decadance club. Roebin has surpassed the border a couple of times and it goes without saying this young chap has already impressed many...Roebin de Freitas' style could best be described as dubby, percussive and gritty. Always looking for a deep, sensual and introvert sound whilst being heavily influenced by the techno heritage. The relationship between Detroit and Berlin, the electronica influenced wave out of the UK, the glitched up minimalism from Canada, ... in the end it's all about something old, something new, something borrowed, something moody blue.
On the productional front Roebin emerged on the vinyl and netlabel circuit during 2007 with releases under the flag of Calima, Kubism, Coincidence, Sinergy Networks and Klips. If you look at these releases a recognizable and distinct signature brings out the depth, rhytmical explorations and glitchy experiments of young Roebin. This proces resulted in an offshoot album for the jon7microlabel, full of IDM styled tracks referring to Roebin's love for '90s electronica artists like LFO, Aphex Twin and Autechre.
Now two years further down the road, and a few releases under his belt, the future looks pretty promising for young Roebin. Be sure to keep an eye and an ear open.
